Listen: The Gesture Music Player App Reviews

What Apple Music Should Be

MacPaw is an excellent developer. This app doesnt disappoint. Beautiful.

Great music player app!

This app is what Ive been looking for. Its simple to use because of its gesture controls. Its not bloated with options I dont need. It plays my music which is all I want. If youre looking for an easy music player, this is the app to use.

Great idea, BITTER DISAPPOINTMENT

Even after multiple reinstalls, the apps FF and RW functions do not work at all. In addition, when shuffling a playlist, the app stops playing after only a few tracks. Shuffle and repeat icons do nothing in "Now Playing" window. Great idea, crappy app. Wish I had never paid for it. Be smarter than me, download something else.

Great app, could use a couple updates

I love this app. Easily the best replacement for the default Music app. However, a message to app developers that I strongly suggest should be added into the app, in order for me to end my search for a Music replacement. 1. Queuing songs: With the regular Music app, you can click on a song and add it to up next, along with Spotify where you can swipe to the right and queue the song up next. (Which I love) Since the app is based upon gestures, a swipe to the right and the ability to queue would be great. Maybe replacing the share button on the bottom right with a queue list? 2. Picking songs and shuffling the album. I find this somewhat a problem, because I want to be able to pick a song from an album and have my whole music library shuffled. This isnt featured in the regular Music app, but it is on Spotify. However, I have a solution to this. Maybe just for organization, preferably I would like it added when I click a Playlist, it would display the playlist with all the artists in it or albums, and when you click a song, it will shuffle that Playlist, which for example, could have all my songs in my library. With those two ideas, the app would be everything I would want. Thank you for reading my review, and feel free to contact me if you have questions about my ideas.

Best one so far

Gestures, great animations and interface that matches the tone of the iOS.

BAD Update

Latest update is a disaster. This was a GREAT app before this version. Please fix Now Playing - it picks whatever it wants to play when the app is re-opened. FF and REW no longer work. It cause Apples Music app to run in the background. Wait for updates and fixes.

IPad App not functional

Used to be able to play my Apple Music playlists from the app, now the app keeps telling me I need to go and buy some from iTunes Store. Deleted.

Piece of junk

Cant believe these people ask for money for such apps that piggy back ride on Apples music player too..Shame on you.

Crash

UX needs work. That onboarding tutorial is WAY too long. I dont like that it makes you scrub your track youre listening to.. gestures were difficult to use. Then it crashed, and iTunes started playing the song that Listen was... QA test this more for ios10

Exceeded expectations

The app plays music directly from the music app, meaning you can start playing music within the main music app, and then open up this app whenever needed. I use it when Im driving, so I can easily pick music without looking at my phone. Only complaint is the inability to queue within the app.

Does not play music

Simply doesnt play music. I can choose a song, but the "Tap to Listen" instruction never goes away. I tapped, and tapped, and tapped, but the tutorial screen wouldnt go away.

Best App

This is the best music app I have ever used for my music love it????

Amazing Replacement for Apple Music (App)

"Listen" has a beautiful interface, easy and wonderfully-designed controls. I would give it five stars, but Macpaw really needs to incorporate "Up Next". If they did, Apples music app would never see the light of day on my phone (no offense).

Great app

Easy to use and set up, seamless integration with music on my device, love it.

Make please

Make it to work offline

My favorite 3rd party music player

PROS: doesnt need cellular data, simple and easy interface, good audio, no ads CONS: if you pause and minimize the app, the app will not play music properly, and youll have to restart the app (very minor annoyance)

Decent but...

...resuming to "Now Playing" does not work. Can not skip tracks forward or backward. Volume sometimes completely unresponsive. Currently using iOS 10. Occasionally locks up and built-in iOS Music Player takes over. Is this an actual stand-alone application or custom made container for the iOS Music Player? Almost Excellent - Aug2015 Needs ability to customize the default #hashtag in social media sharing message. Would be awesome if scrobbling to Last.fm from within Listen could be added for an old fart like myself as I still have several hundred thousand listeners/followers.

Amazing

This is by FAR my favorite music player, however I just have a things to say 1.) No song library. Itd be nice if there was a section/part that showed every single song. One for compilations would be nice too. 2.) No track number. Itd be nice if when the tracks were listed you could see the track number. 3.) Maybe a way to switch between round and rectangular view for the icons would be nice? 4.) For artists, maybe instead of listing all the individual track artists, just show the album artists. 4a.) If you do want to stick with that format though, thats fine, but I have kind of a problem. I have the soundtracks for Eurovision 11, 14, 15, and 16, and the and so it has the individual artists for 14 but not the others, but tapping on one of them also brings up every compilation with Various Artists as its compilation artist (since thats the one for 14) but none of the other compilations (any of them) dont get individual OR compilation artists (I have some compilations that dont have Various Artists as their compilation artist). 5.) And also, when you select an artist, instead of listing the songs in a huge font under the tiny album font, maybe just list the albums (as well as an all songs one). 6.) Additionally, a queue where we can decide what to play next or switch the order of songs around.

Best Way to Listen to Music

After updating to iOS 10, I found myself underwhelmed with Apples music app redesign. Looking for a replacement, I found Listen. And I am never looking back. It has a gorgeous, intuitive interface that doesnt try to do too much. The gesture based controls are great, and the overall app performance is very smooth. I just have a couple requests to make the app even better. 1. Add a Queue: Especially with Apples butchering of their old queue, a way to queue songs and rearrange the order would be very useful. 2. Playlist Creation: With the lack of a queue, I found myself having to go back to the Apple music app to create playlists. A feature to create playlists would be nice. 3. More Menus: It would be really nice if I could access other music menus like songs, genres, or compilations. 4. I dont know if this is a flaw with the app or just a flaw with Apple, but I often have to start playing my music within Apples app to get the app to work. If theres any way that could be fixed, that would be nice. Other than that, this app is more than amazing, and Ive recommended it to everyone I know. Keep up the good work!

I wanted to love it. I really did.

Unfortunately, the app crashes on me more than any app Ive ever used. It will disappear entirely from anything that tells you what apps are currently running, but the music will keep playing.. with no way to shut it off. Gestures dont work. Force close wont work because the app insists to the phone that its already not running. You can restart the app, but it will only last a minute or two before crashing again, all the while the music just plays on. The only way I can get it to shut down entirely is to reboot the phone. This is on a 6+ with 10.1.1 installed.
